Claughton House, designed by Geoffrey Bawa, is an example of intelligent architecture enhancing the beauty of its environment. A unique, multi terraced living space has been created to appreciate one of the best vistas in southern Sri Lanka: a distant harbour bobbing with small fishing boats, swaying coconut palms, an inviting pool, white sands and the alluring waters of the Indian Ocean. There are five bedrooms, 3 in the main house all with garden and ocean views and a further two towards the rear of the house accessed via a covered walkway.
All bedrooms are en suite and three have secluded tropical spaces with outdoor showers. Set in the rocks on a lower level of the immaculate lawn, lies the pool terrace, with views out to sea and comes complete with BBQ and poolside dining pavilion, day bed and sun loungers. Overlooking the surf break, it provides the perfect spot to unwind and recharge
